Hoping you can answer a question. I just had an interview at Ross and was offered a job on the spot. I have a lot of experience and was very qualified for the job. Then she mentioned the background check would be next and I asked her if my felony would be an issue. I did disclose it on my online application but she apparently did think of that and said it would be an HR issue to deal with. She made it seem like they would not be able to hire me based on my felony.
I see that you have Ross listed as one of the companies OK to hire. Let me add that my felony is not theft or drug or violence related. It was for a Dui 2 years ago.
Any advice you can give me???

It’s true that Ross does not have official guidelines that prohibit the hiring of ex-offenders and felons, but of course hiring is at the discretion of the hiring manager. You were honest on your application so that is all you can do. You were upfront about your charge and it had nothing to do with a previous employer. Once again, you have done all you can do.
If things do not go your way, don’t take it personal. Pick yourself up and on to the next interview. Finding a job is a numbers game. The more interviews you get the more opportunities you will have to find an employer who won’t hold your record against you.
In the future remind the interviewer that your charge was not related to a past job or employer. You may add that you were having some problems at the time and you are happy to say that those problems are behind you.
