I have one felony and can’t find a job
Q: Hello,
My name is Tyrell. I live in Illinois and I have a felony for a having a gun in 2006 I never did time. I just got 2 yrs probation that I was released from early because I didn’t get in anymore trouble. I can’t find a job and I really need help. I have a family to take care of and its getting harder and harder do you know of anywhere that will hire me?

I’m sorry you are having so much trouble. Firstly, I would suggest ex-offenders and felons apply employment at retail chains. This time of year, retail chains hire for the busy holiday season. This may help in the short term. You could also apply at supermarkets. They are always looking for night stocking help. There always seems to be a shortage of people to work on the overnight crew.
I tell every person with a criminal record that finding a job will not be easy. The best way to find a job for you and everyone else is to apply for every job you feel qualified for. The more jobs you apply for the greater your chance to get an interview. The more interviews you get, the greater your opportunities to get hired. I have a page where you can search for open jobs in your area. Once again, apply for every job you are qualified for. There is also a huge (and getting bigger,) list of companies that hire felons.
