I’m not sure what part of Maryland you live in but your first stop should be the Maryland Job Service. I always suggest that a ex-offender and felons utilize state supported job services. There you can get individual case management that will guide you to services that can prepare you for work or train you for a new career. If you live in the Baltimore area, find Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc. They offer specialized career training programs such as Custodial Skills, Clerical and Computer Skills, Healthcare Skills and general job readiness training. GED preparation is also offered. These services are free.
This organization offers special assistance for ex-offenders and felons looking for jobs. They operate their own staffing service that provide employees for public and private employers. You can get more information here:
