I have a Class A Misdemeanor for Domestic Violence and a Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana that I pled guilty to in 2009. Both are from the same incident in 2008. They are they only criminal convictions I have ever had in my life. I was able to return to work as an IT technician in spite of this these incidents and worked for a couple of more years but was part of a companywide RIF a few months ago. That’s when I found out how serious misdemeanors can be. This blog is for felonies but I have found the domestic violence conviction to be as serious as a felony as far as many companies are concerned. Some companies seem lenient about the marijuana but not one has pursued hiring me after they see that I have a conviction involving violence. My question is do you know of any companies or agencies in Columbia or even the state of South Carolina that will consider helping me get a job with a domestic violence conviction?
